Wild Columbine, St. Vrain Mountain, Colorado (11,000 feet)

Colorado’s state flower loves high altitudes and rocky tundra, as well as wooded areas high up in the Rockies. This was the only plant in sight on St. Vrain Mountain today, according to photographer Brent Evans. Seed probably dropped there by an animal or blown there by the wind.
